I have lived and worked in the real estate industry on Maui since 1978. My wife, Laura and I have raised three children on my and my oldest, Jeremy, works full time with me now. With 29 years and over 1000 transactions closed, we have a wealth of experience to share. We have done subdivisions, completed condos, and have a considerable investment portfolio of our own on Maui.
I will serve as State President for the Hawaii Association of Realtors in 2010.

I pray that Richard Gaylord, NAR President is correct with his predictions about liquidity in the markets. It is not just the housing market that is being crunched in Hawaii. Visitor arrivals are off over 30% in many areas as everybody has been afraid the world is ending. Talk about a great time for a Hawaii vacation, the beaches are uncrowded, traffic is light, you can get a reservation easily to the best restaurants, and hotels are creating incredible vacation packages with airlines. What a great time for real estate bargain hunters to come hunt and gather. Great deals abound in the Islands. Bring some of that cash you just pulled out of your banks over the past few weeks and put it in some great Hawaii real estate, rather than rolling your dice in the stock market. Aloha from Maui ! Hawaii is watching and waiting for California's success in the state-wide MLS. We anticipate doing the same in the near future. With only 4 MLS systems in our state, it would seem like a no brainer. The good old fashioned provincial attitute of not sharing inventory is being overwhelmed by the internet. With almost 30 years in the business, I am qualified to be a dinosaur, however, my 25 year son and business partner, Jeremy, keeps pushing me along. In this market, it is change or die. I am not ready to be a fossil yet although I may resemble one. Hooray for California ! Better we take control of our destiny before some 3rd party private company does. Tracy S. I don't understand the negativity associated with Realtors creating their own credit union. It makes sense for us to help each other in this industry. The bankers will never quit trying to get in to competition with our industry so it makes sense to quit sharing our deposits with them. Now that we have taken some serious licks with the abuses that the mortgage backed securities debacle created by a bunch of swindling bankers, it is time that we create a place that we can go to when we need credit to buy cars at 5% loans instead of 9 or 10% that banks are charging. Presently, I have a new car loan with a credit union at 4.9%APR and they approved a loan for my daughter with me co-signing at 5.5% APR. Credit Unions provide a great service without a needless mark-up.
